Baramulla, May 31: A woman and her daughter-in-law lost their lives following a head-on collision between two vehicles in the Kanispora area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Sarwa Begum (65) and her daughter-in-law Malika Begum (49), both residents of Fatehpora, Baramulla.
The injured have been identified as Abdul Hameed Dar and Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, both residents of Fatehpora Baramulla. They are currently under treatment at GMC Baramulla.
According to an official, the accident occurred when four members of a family travelling in a Maruti vehicle collided with a Tata Sumo vehicle coming in the opposite direction at Kanispora. Following the incident, a team from Baramulla Police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla.
Sarwa Begum, who had sustained critical injuries, succumbed at GMC Baramulla. While Malika Begum, who was also critically injured, was referred to SKIMS Srinagar for specialized treatment but later succumbed to her injuries there.
Meanwhile, Baramulla Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated further investigation.
