
Jammu, Nov 20: Four people lost their lives in two separate road accidents that took place in Kathua district.
The deceased also include two minor girls.
Police said that a middle aged man identified as Surjeet Kumar (40) and his eleven years old daughter Sonali got killed when a motorcycle they were travelling in was knocked down by a truck at Lakhanpur in the district.
The accident took place on Monday afternoon when the man and his daughter were returning to their village from Pathankot.
In another accident that took place on Sunday late evening, police said a woman and her granddaughter lost their lives as the duo were knocked by a two-wheeler on the highway.
The accident took place on the highway at Sadq-e-Chak village of Kathua when Santosh Kumari (50) and her seven-year-old granddaughter Sameera were crossing the highway but the duo were knocked over by a motorcycle.
The woman and her granddaughter got injured in the accident and both were shifted to the civil hospital of the area but they succumbed.
Police said that cognizance in both these accidents has been taken in local police stations.
