2nd edition of Goodwill Cup begins in Sopore

Sopore, Nov 18: The 2nd edition of Goodwill Cup started here at Subhana Stadium Sopore, which is hosted by Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore,
The event organised by the Physical Education Staff of the Youth Services & Sports Department, witnessed an exciting opening match between Zone Rohama and Zone Baramulla/Singpora Kalan.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries including the DYSP Sopore, Principal BHSS Mushtaq Sopori, Principal GHSS, ZPEO’s Baramulla, and the ex-Dysso Baramulla.

In an intense showdown, Zone Rohama set a competitive target of 146 runs, led by Farhaan Malik’s remarkable knock of 70 runs. Baramulla/Singpora Kalan faced a tough challenge, scoring a total of 80 runs with Ishfaq Ahmad claiming an impressive 5 wickets and Showkat Khan taking 3 wickets Sarfaraz Nabi’s outstanding performance with 5 wickets led Zone Rohama’s victory by a significant 66 runs.

“This tournament brings together the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the departmental teams,” stated an official from the organising committee. The Goodwill Cup 2023 promises thrilling cricket matches and celebrates the dedication of the region’s physical education staff.
The tournament will witness the participation of eight departmental teams for the prestigious title over the upcoming days.
