Jammu, Apr 21: The Inter-Battalion Sports Meet–2025 was officially declared open by Additional Director General of Police (Armed) J&K, Anand Jain (IPS), at a vibrant inaugural ceremony held at Gulshan Ground, Jammu on Monday.

As per a press statement issued while addressing the gathering, Anand Jain extended a warm welcome to all the participating contingents from the 34 armed police units and expressed satisfaction over the meticulous preparations made for the successful conduct of the event.

As the Chairman of the five-day sporting extravaganza, the ADGP, as per the release, commended the officers entrusted with various responsibilities for their dedicated efforts in organising the meet.

A total of 34 units—18 based in the Valley and 16 from the Jammu region—are participating in 40 different sporting disciplines, including events for Gazetted Officers.

Highlighting the importance of such events, ADGP Jain said that the Sports Meet is a celebration of strength, spirit, and solidarity within the Armed Police. “Today, we are not merely inaugurating a sports competition but reaffirming a tradition that embodies discipline, dedication, and determination—the core values of our Police Parivar,” he stated.

Recalling the successful conduct of the Inter-Battalion Sports Meet in 2021 following the COVID-19 pandemic, the ADGP noted the commendable performance of the participating units. Appreciating the efforts made by the DIG Armed and Commandants of the Jammu City-based battalions, he lauded the excellent arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of the event. He further encouraged players to see sports not just as a competitive pursuit but as a way of life, urging them to incorporate physical fitness and sporting spirit into their daily routines.
