Srinagar, Feb 5: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and MLA from Padder-Nagseni, Sunil Sharma, has sharply criticized the National Conference (NC) for creating an atmosphere of unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. Sharma blamed the NC for key historical events, including the 1931 unrest, the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1989, and the recent terrorist attack in Kulgam that resulted in the death of an ex-serviceman, with his wife and niece injured.
Speaking to the press outside the Army’s 92-Base hospital in Srinagar, Sharma explained that the visit was aimed at expressing concern for the critically injured women following the terrorist attack in Behibgah village, Kulgam, two days ago.
“I, along with BJP J&K president Sat Sharma, former president Ravinder Raina, and other leaders, have come to Kulgam to offer our condolences to the family of Manzoor Wagay, an ex-serviceman who tragically lost his life in the attack. On the instructions of our party leadership, we are here to show our support and assist the family in any way possible,” Sharma said.
The BJP leader did not hold back in his criticism of the NC, accusing the party of undermining peace in the region. “From the 1931 incident and the 1989 exodus to the recent Kulgam attack, the NC has played a harmful role in disturbing the peace in Jammu and Kashmir,” Sharma was quoted as saying by Greater Kashmir.
BJP J&K president Sat Sharma also condemned the Kulgam attack, expressing concern about certain elements attempting to destabilize the region. He assured the public that the sacrifices of the victims would not be forgotten. “There are forces, acting under Pakistan’s influence, trying to disturb the region’s peace. They will face justice,” Sharma warned. “The courage of our martyrs will always be honored, and those responsible will be held accountable.”
