Caste census result of Rahul Gandhi’s struggle: JKPCC

Jammu, May 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has congratulated the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership for the success of the party’s struggle for the caste census in the country.

A unanimous resolution was adopted in a meeting at PCC headquarter Jammu on Friday to express gratitude to the Congress leadership especially LOP in Lok Sabha to pressurize Government to concede the demand of Congress party for caste census in the country.

The resolution moved by JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma was seconded by working president Tara Chand, ex-Deputy Chief Minister and Raman Bhalla, former minister. JKPCC working president Tara Chand, who presided over the meeting along with Raman Bhalla, which was attended by several senior leaders, said that the struggle of Rahul Gandhi finally yielded results and the central government had to accept the demand raised by Congress party for caste census.

He said, “Now the party demands that the caste census should be completed within a time frame so that the complete benefits reach the common man at the earliest.” Working president Raman Bhalla too stated that the announcement of caste census was the result of the struggle of Rahul Gandhi and the entire Congress party behind him. He called for a time frame to complete the exercise, so that the benefits of the Government scheme could reach the targeted population.

The meeting also asked the party cadres in the border areas including DCC presidents to remain in constant touch with the people and the administration in view of the prevailing situation, keeping a close watch on the activities on the border belt.

The participants condemned Pakistan for the unprovoked firing on the border and LoC and reiterated the decision of CWC and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi that Congress party was fully behind the nation and the Government to give befitting response to terrorism and Pakistan for the Pahalgam carnage.

Earlier, a two-minutes silence was also observed to mourn the death of veteran Congress leader and former union minister Girija Viyas and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

Those who participated in the meeting also included Thakur Balwan Singh; Yogesh Sawhney; Thakur Balbir Singh; Ved Mahajan; Yash Pal Kundal; M K Bhardwaj; Neeraj Gupta besides others.
