Man Arrested for Murdering Lover’s Husband in J&K

Srinagar, Oct 26: Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district have reportedly cracked a murder case involving a 42-year-old man whose throat was slit. The victim, Puran Chand of Balota Upperla village, was found dead near Lakhera Nallah two days ago. Bikram Kumar, a resident of Basantgarh, has been apprehended in connection with the crime, media reports said. Surprisingly, it has emerged that Kumar was romantically involved with Chand’s wife. The investigation took a significant turn when Kumar confessed to the murder, disclosing his affair with the deceased’s spouse. The motive for the murder, as per the reports in media appear to be a confrontation that occurred at Chand’s residence on October 22. The murder weapon was also recovered by the authorities.

J&K Police seize 240 kgs of poppy straw in Udhampur

Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, October 15: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday recovered 240 kgs of poppy straw at Jakhani Check Naka on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur, said officials. "Based on specific input, the Police party of Udhampur started surprise checking at Jakhani Check Naka and intercepted a vehicle loaded with apples. During checking police recovered 240 Kg of Bhukki (Poppy Straw) which was hidden under the special cabin of the vehicle," said police. Police arrested the two suspected drug peddlers on the spot and seized the vehicle. "Police intercepted the vehicle at Jakhani Check Naka and during the search, 240 Kg of Poppy Straw was recovered," said Sham Singh Naib, Tehsildar, Udhampur.
