Baramulla, Nov 4: Government Degree College Baramulla, as part of its continuing successful attempt towards saffron cultivation, celebrated the Saffron Festival on its premises on Saturday. The event showcased the prospects of saffron cultivation across north Kashmir, particularly in Baramulla district. The event featured the harvesting of saffron flowers and the separation of their stigma. In 2018, Government Degree College Baramulla initiated the project, “Prospects of Saffron Cultivation in Baramulla,” which was subsequently approved and funded by the University Grants Commission in New Delhi and supported financially by the JK Science Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. Seven persons injured in Pattan road accident

Srinagar, Nov 4: Seven persons were injured in a road accident in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, officials said. An official said that accident took place on the Srinagar Baramulla highway near Nafees Hotel between an SUV and a car. He added that the injured persons were rushed to trauma hospital Pattan for treatment. After first aid, they were referred to JVC hospital in Bemina for further treatment. Police has taken cognizance of the incident and started an investigation, added the official. Source

DGP : Over 40 police stations in J&K to receive weapons upgrades

Baramulla, Oct 18: Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh on Wednesday said that at least 43 police stations in J&K are being provided with latest gadgets and other facilities to root out remaining terrorism in their areas under Operation Capacity Building. “We have started Operation Capacity Building and under this, we have covered 21 police stations that have been strengthened and provided with latest gadgets and other facilities to deal with the remaining terrorism,” DGP Singh said addressing the passing out cum attestation parade in Sheeri area of northern district of Baramulla.
