Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam | Contraband substance recovered

Kulgam, Nov 4: Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession. A Police party headed by SHO police station Kulgam during patrolling at Chancer, Okay intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag. During the search, 7 Kgs of poppy straw like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Mir resident of Okay, Kulgam. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody. 5 policemen injured in Qazigund accident

Qazigund, Oct 24: At least five policemen were injured after a police vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road at Kurigam area of Qazigund in South Kashmir'a Kulgam district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer that a police 407 van skidded off the road at Kurigam, Qazigund, resulting in injuries to five police personnel. He said all the injured policemen were rushed to the emergency hospital in Qazigund for immediate medical attention, where from two among them have shifted to GMC Anantnag. The injured have been identified as Head Constable Mushtaq Ahmad, Constable Waseem Ahmad, Constable Murtaza Ahmad, Constable Amir Suhail and Special Police Officer (SPO) Driver Sajad Ahmad.

Extortion racket busted in Kulgam, 5 arrested: Police

Kulgam, Dec 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have busted an extortion gang by arresting five persons who were posing as terrorists in South Kashmir Kulgam district. A Police spokesperson said, "Kulgam Police received multiple complaints from the residents of Katrasoo, Matibugh and Tarigam that some persons entered their houses posing as terrorists." Major tragedy averted, Two IEDs defused in Kulgam: JK Police

Srinagar, November 26: Police and army avoided a major tragedy by defusing two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday. A spokesman of Kulgam Police said on Twitter that the IEDs were planted in the Frisal area of the district. He said the area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway. “Police along with 1 RR Army averted a Major tragedy by detecting & subsequently diffusing 02 IEDs (01 Timer & other Sticky) planted by Terrorists in Frisal area of Kulgam District.Area has been cordoned off and searches going on Further details shall follow,” he said on Twitter.
