Four Dead, 10 Injured after Vehicle Falls into Gorge in JK

Kupwara, Oct 31: At least four persons died while 10 others were injured after a vehicle fell in a gorge in Nawagabra area of Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Quoting an official, KNO reported that the vehicle skidded off and fell into a gorge, resulting in the death of four persons. He said that 10 others travelling in the vehicle also suffered injuries in the incident. “The injured are being treated at SDH Tangdhar. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered,” the official added.

Srinagar, Oct 21: A soldier was injured in sniper fire from the Pakistan side along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said on Saturday. The incident took place in Keran sector late Friday night. “Pakistan Army fired a sniper shot at an Indian army post in the Keran sector on Friday evening. Soldier Saurav Kumar was wounded in this incident. He was airlifted to the army’s 92-base hospital in Srinagar for specialized treatment. “Doctors described the soldier’s condition as out of danger and stable," the officials added.

Traffic suspended on Kupwara road after detecting suspicious object

Srinagar, Oct 13: Security forces on Friday morning recovered a suspicious object in north Kashmir's Handwara following which traffic was suspended on the highway, reports said. Quoting sources, news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that a road opening party (ROP) of the Army found a suspicious object in the Ganapora area of Kralgund in Handwara this morning. The Army team raised an alert, after which more teams of the Army and police reached the site. Following this, the movement of vehicles on the highway was suspended as a precautionary measure, sources said. They said that a Bomb Disposal Squad of the Army had been called in for an examination of the suspicious object.
