Kangan, May 05: Hundreds of people on Monday attended the funeral of the nomadic woman who died after being assaulted in Nishat area of Srinagar on Sunday.
The body of the victim was brought to Hariganiwan area of Kangan on Monday afternoon where hundreds of people attended the funeral of the nomadic woman. She was later buried at the local graveyard.
The assault on the nomadic woman led to her death triggering widespread anger and demand for stern punishment to those involved in this heinous crime.
Member of Parliament Mian Altaf, MLA Kangan Mian Mehar Ali besides people have expressed anger and shock over this horrific incident and demanded justice to the family and stern punishment for culprits.
To mention, Police have arrested four persons over the sexual assault and murder of a nomadic woman in Srinagar, officials said today.
“Srinagar Police acted promptly upon receiving information regarding an attempted sexual assault on a woman (name withheld) by a group of individuals near Water Works Road, Nishat,” said a police spokesman. He said the victim had sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Following the incident, FIR No. 35/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Nishat, and investigation was immediately initiated.
