Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday that the country’s handicraft exports were rising progressively and have been a long way advanced to any gadget-made merchandise.
Talking at an awards rite where artisans and handloom workers had been honoured, the Minister said that, with India all set to expect the presidency of the G20 on December 1, there could be ample opportunities to show the wealthy heritage of handicraft and handloom merchandise to diverse international dignitaries who could be travelling the country to attend numerous meetings associated with the grouping.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Goyal said, usually prefers gifting handloom and handicraft products to all overseas dignitaries, whom he meets at numerous global fora.
Indian homemade merchandise is a super example of a self-sufficient India and all artisans try their quality to make India “Atmanirbhar”, Goyal said.
Efforts are needed in order to make India an all-inclusive society by way of 2047, he added.
