Jammu, Apr 20: Police have arrested a Lecturer of Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Bhaderwah for “sexually molesting a minor girl student by threatening to not let her clear the internal examinations of the school.” A police spokesperson said, “On April 16, 2025, a complaint was received in Police Station Bhaderwah against a Lecturer, namely Dr. Waris Sheikh, presently posted at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bhaderwah for molesting and sexually abusing a minor girl studying in class 12 and demanding sexual favour by threatening to not let her clear the internal examination.”
“It was further stated in the complaint that the accused approached the minor girl demanding sexual favour while giving her assurance to help her procure admission in a medical course at Punjab in a College. The accused was also sending incriminating WhatsApp messages seeking sexual favours by referring that he had adopted the same modus operandi with other girls also and without sexual favour, she could not procure admission in the course. He also threatened the girl that if she narrated the same to any member in the family, she would never pass the examination,” the spokesperson said, while referring to the complaint lodged.
Accordingly, on the receipt of this information, a case FIR No 54/2025 U/S 74 / 75/ 78 BNS and 9/10/11/12 POCSO with 67 (a) IT act was registered at Police Station Bhaderwah and the accused was arrested, the spokesperson said, adding, “Further investigation of case is going on.”
