New Delhi, April 23: In a meeting on the sidelines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, called on the Prime Minister in Jeddah on April 22. Dr. Al-Issa expressed his deep sorrow over the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, unequivocally condemning the act.
“We strongly denounce the horrific attack and offer our heartfelt condolences for the innocent lives lost,” he said, voicing solidarity with the victims and their families.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi recalled his previous interaction with Dr. Al-Issa in New Delhi in July 2023. “I deeply appreciate the Muslim World League’s efforts in promoting tolerance, moderation, and social harmony,” the Prime Minister noted.
He highlighted India’s long-standing civilisational ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the idea that the world is one family — and said, “India’s diversity is its strength. As a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, and multi-religious society, we celebrate unity in diversity.” The Prime Minister also praised the League’s firm stand against extremism and violence, adding, “Such principled voices are vital in building global consensus against terrorism.”
Stressing the depth of bilateral ties, PM Modi remarked, “India values its strong and growing partnership with Saudi Arabia, especially the deep-rooted socio-cultural bonds that have historically linked our people.”
