Police inaugurate T20 cricket tournament in Handwara

Kupwara, Dec 9: Under the Civic Action Program Handwara Police Saturday inaugurated the Martyr PSI Arshid Ashraf Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament at Bakiakher sports ground Handwara in which 16 cricket teams belonging to different areas of the Police District will participate.

The inauguration match witnessed a huge response from district players and many cricket teams of the Police District desired to participate in the tournament, but finally, 16 teams were shortlisted.

The selected playing teams wholeheartedly thanked Handwara Police for organising the event.

During the inaugural interaction with teams, SSP Handwara Dawood Ayoub appreciated and wished good luck to both teams for playing the inauguration match of the tournament. He stressed the young and budding players to allow their minds to explore their thoughts and imagination through the medium of sports. Further, he asked the players to show good sportsmanship, discipline as well as good behaviour towards each other.

The inaugural match was played between Galoora-11 and Bakiakher-11.

The main aim and motive of organising such events is to develop brotherhood, love and peace, keeping youth away from the menace of drug addiction.
