Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir – In a significant breakthrough in counter-terrorism efforts, security forces recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition during a joint operation conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Rampur Sector of Baramulla, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Based on specific intelligence regarding hidden weaponry, a search operation was initiated on February 3 in the Anganpathri area.
On February 5, around 1:10 PM, security personnel uncovered the hidden stockpile inside a hollow pine tree within a dense forest. The weapons were carefully wrapped in a blanket to evade detection.
The recovered items include three AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 292 rounds of ammunition, an under-barrel grenade launcher (UBGL), nine UBGL grenades, and two hand grenades.
Authorities have registered a case under FIR Boniyar at Boniyar Police Station, and an investigation is underway to determine the source of the weapons and any potential connections to terrorist networks in the region.
