Traffic suspended on Kupwara road after detecting suspicious object

Srinagar, Oct 13: Security forces on Friday morning recovered a suspicious object in north Kashmir's Handwara following which traffic was suspended on the highway, reports said. Quoting sources, news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that a road opening party (ROP) of the Army found a suspicious object in the Ganapora area of Kralgund in Handwara this morning. The Army team raised an alert, after which more teams of the Army and police reached the site. Following this, the movement of vehicles on the highway was suspended as a precautionary measure, sources said. They said that a Bomb Disposal Squad of the Army had been called in for an examination of the suspicious object.

Ladakh, Oct 12: In a first, Army in collaboration with BSNL, has established a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) at the forward posts of the world's highest battlefield in Ladakh sector. The spokesperson of the Fire and Fury Corps, which oversees the Ladakh sector, posted on X (formerly Twitter): "#Siachen Warriors, in collaboration with BSNL, have established the first-ever BSNL BTS at the forward posts of the highest battlefield on October 6th, to enhance mobile communication for the soldiers deployed at over 15,500 feet."

Doda, Oct 11: Doda Police and the Indian Army on Wednesday busted a terrorist hideout in a joint search operation in Seoz Dhar Bhaderwah and recovered several weapons from the hideout. In a statement issued by Doda Police, it was told that acting on specific information about a terrorist hideout, a joint search operation was launched by Doda Police and Army (04 RR) and the searching party busted a hideout in upper reaches (forest area) of Seoz Dhar Bhaderwah. The searching party recovered 3 Chinese Pistols, 9 Pistol Magazines and 79 rounds of Pistol from the terrorists hideout. In this connection, an FIR under relevant sections has been registered in Police Station Bhaderwah and an investigation of the case has been started. 180 militants, 31 SFs personnel killed in J&K this year till now: MHA

New Delhi, 7 Dec: Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on Wednesday said that there has been a substantial decline in militants attack from 417 in 2018 to 229 in 2021. While informing the Rajya sabha, MoS Home Nityanand Rai said, 14 persons belonging to minorities including 3 Kashmiri Pandits have been killed in UT of Jammu and Kashmir from January 2022 to 30th November 2022. He said that there were 123 terrorist incidents in J&K (till November 2022). 31 security forces personnel lost their lives in the line of duty while 31 civilians also lost their lives. "180 terrorists have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir in encounters with security personnel this year (till November 2022)", he said.
