Former chief election commissioner Manohar Singh Gill passes away

New Delhi, October 15: Former Chief Election Commissioner and former Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Manohar Singh Gill passed away in Delhi on Sunday. According to his family members, the last rites of Manohar Singh Gill will be held at the Lodi Road Crematorium at 3 p.m. on Monday. Gill retired as the Chief Election Commissioner of India, a position he held from 1996 to 2001. After retirement, Gill joined the Indian National Congress and represented Punjab in the Rajya Sabha from 2004 to 2016, marking two successful terms as a member of the upper house. Gill held the posts of Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation under the Congress government.

New Delhi, October 15: Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena and Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur flagged off the Delhi Half Marathon from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday. Delhi LG VK Saxena participating in the marathon said that 36,000 people are participating in this global event. Security situation in J&K has improved: MHA

Srinagar, Dec 07: Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on Wednesday said the government has a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and that security situation has improved significantly in Jammu and Kashmir. News agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reported that Rai, while informing the Rajya Sabha, said there has been substantial decline in terror incidents from 417 in 2018 to 229 in 2021.
