Srinagar, Dec 8: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Wednesday defeated NIT Uttarakhand by 26 runs in the finals of All India Inter-NIT Faculty and Staff Cricket Tournament at Sports Cricket Ground at Visvesvarya National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagpur. The tournament was hosted by VNIT Nagpur and 20 NITs from across India participated in the mega event. Earlier after winning the toss, NIT Uttarakhand decided to field first. New Delhi, December 6: Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Tuesday chaired a high-level security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir, according to sources. The officials revealed that it was a monthly review meeting to take stock of security in Jammu and Kashmir along with ongoing development projects in UT. Security situation in J&K has improved: MHA

Srinagar, Dec 07: Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on Wednesday said the government has a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and that security situation has improved significantly in Jammu and Kashmir. News agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reported that Rai, while informing the Rajya Sabha, said there has been substantial decline in terror incidents from 417 in 2018 to 229 in 2021. Deadly Leopard captured in Anantnag district

Wildlife Department tranquilized and captured a leopard at Naidpora Larkipora area of Anantnag district on Sunday afternoon. Reports reaching that the leopard was spotted by locals inside the horticulture shed belonging to one Mohammad Amin in Naidpora Larkipora, following which they intimated the authorities. A rescue operation was launched by the Wildlife Department, Control Room Achabal, at the spot. After hours of efforts, the Wildlife Department team tranquilized the bear and shifted it to a natural habitat.

Fire damages 4 residential houses in Chattabal

Srinagar, Dec 04: At least four residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in Patlipora locality of Chattabal in Srinagar district on Sunday morning. The news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reported that four residential houses were partially damaged after a fire broke out in Patlipora area this morning. They said fire tenders along with local police doused off the flames in time to avoid further damage. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and the cause of fire was not known immediately. There were, however, no reports of any loss of life or injury in the incident.

Srinagar: State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the J&K Police Saturday said that it barred Jamaat-e-Islami from using and entering into its 11 properties in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Major tragedy averted, Two IEDs defused in Kulgam: JK Police

Srinagar, November 26: Police and army avoided a major tragedy by defusing two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday. A spokesman of Kulgam Police said on Twitter that the IEDs were planted in the Frisal area of the district. He said the area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway. “Police along with 1 RR Army averted a Major tragedy by detecting & subsequently diffusing 02 IEDs (01 Timer & other Sticky) planted by Terrorists in Frisal area of Kulgam District.Area has been cordoned off and searches going on  Further details shall follow,” he said on Twitter.
