Ganderbal, May 4: The District Ganderbal Ball Badminton Championship 2025-26 concluded successfully on May 3 on Saturday at Siddiq Memorial Educational Institute, Ganderbal, showcasing the growing enthusiasm and talent for the sport among local youth.

The two-day championship, as per a statement issued, held from May 2 to May 3, 2025, was organised by the Ganderbal Ball Badminton Association in collaboration with the J&K Ball Badminton Association and under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 12 teams competing in both the boys’ and girls’ sections, highlighting the growing interest and talent in ball badminton within the region.

The closing ceremony was marked by the presence of several guests, which included chief guest Riyaz Ahmad, principal of Siddiq Memorial Educational Institute; special guest Showkat Ahmad, manager of Indoor Stadium Ganderbal; and guests of honour Tanshifa, HOD of Siddiq Memorial Educational Institute, and Nelofer Rehman, physical education teacher.

Their attendance added encouragement and prestige to the young participants, many of whom were playing their first major district-level tournament.

Organising Secretary Majid Rafiq was widely praised for his dedication and meticulous planning, which ensured the smooth execution of the championship.

His efforts were recognised by both officials and players, with many lauding his role in providing young athletes a meaningful platform to compete and grow.

The championship served as a crucial platform for young athletes to showcase their abilities and gain competitive experience. The Ganderbal Ball Badminton Association expressed gratitude to all participating teams, officials, and supporters for making the event a resounding success.

With the growing popularity of ball badminton in J&K, the association reaffirmed its commitment to organising more such tournaments in the future, aiming to nurture sports culture and youth engagement in the region.
