New Delhi, Jun 30: Two firefighters were killed and a third injured after a gunman opened fire during a firefighting operation on Canfield Mountain, near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, a state in the northwestern region of the United States.
The attack occurred after crews responded to a fire on Sunday afternoon, which authorities say was intentionally set.
The shooter, believed to have acted alone, targeted first responders in what officials described as a planned ambush. Law enforcement and SWAT teams were deployed and later found the suspect dead near the scene. It remains unclear if the shooter was killed by police or died by suicide. The wildfire, which grew to 20 acres, continued to burn into the night. The motive behind the attack is under investigation.
