Jammu, May 14: Police Wednesday arrested two criminals involved in an assault case in the Bishnah area of Jammu district and also recovered two sharp-edged weapons used in the commission of offence.

According to a Police spokesperson, the case stems from a complaint filed on May 12, 2025, at Police Station Bishnah by Manjeet Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, a resident of Mehmoodpur in tehsil Bishnah of district Jammu.

The complainant alleged that he was attacked by two individuals with sharp-edged weapons. The accused were identified as Udhay Kumar alias Kalu, son of Jagan Nath, resident of Ward No 10, Bishnah and Sahil Kumar, son of Bachan Dass, resident of Ward No 11, Bishnah.

As per the complaint, the accused reportedly used two toka (sharp-edged weapons) during the assault, leaving the complainant with serious injuries. He was taken to SDH Bishnah for treatment.

ìFollowing the registration of FIR No 44/25 under Sections 126(2), 115(2), 3(5) BNS and 4/25 Arms Act, a team of officers led by SHO Bishnah inspector Sushil Choudhary started an investigation into the matter. After conducting multiple raids, the police successfully apprehended both accused,î Police said.

Upon sustained interrogation, the accused duo confessed to their involvement in the crime. ìThe arms used – two tokas were recovered based on their disclosure. The case is currently under further investigation,î the spokesperson said.

In a separate case, the Police in the Arnia area of Jammu district Wednesday worked out a theft case within 24 hours, with the arrest of one accused along with one stolen 12-bore double barrel gun.

A written complaint was lodged at Police Station Arnia by one Poonam Devi, wife of Naresh Kumar, resident of Malley-De-Kothey stating therein that some unknown person had stolen one 12-bore double barrel gun from her house.

Acting on this complaint, a case FIR No 23/2025 U/S 331(4)/305 BNS was registered at Police Station Arnia and the investigation was entrusted to SI Harjinder Pal Singh under the supervision of SHO Arnia Inspector Dilawar Kumar, Police said.

During the investigation based on human and tech intelligence, a team of Police Station Arnia rounded up one suspect who upon sustained questioning confessed his involvement in the instant case.

The arrested accused has been identified as Rahul Chandail alias Salute Maar, son of Ramesh Lal, resident of Allah, Arnia. On the disclosure of the accused person, police succeeded in recovering the stolen double barrel 12 bore gun. Further investigation of the case is going on,î Police said.
