Jammu, Jul 25: Fresh batch of 2896 pilgrims Friday departed from Jammu base camp for the holy shrine in South Kashmir, in a heavily guarded convoy.
Officials said that the pilgrims of 23rd batch, comprising 2505 males, 314 females, 1 child, 60 Sadhus and 16 Sadhvis departed from Jammu base camp in a convoy of 117 vehicles, including 69 buses and 36 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs).
2106 pilgrims, including 1842 males, 188 females, 60 Sadhus and 16 Sadhvis, who opted for the Pahalgam route, departed in a cavalcade of 75 vehicles, 53 buses and 13 LMVs at 4.18 am.
A total of 790 pilgrims, including 663 males, 126 females and 1 child chose to embark on Yatra through the treacherous Baltal route. They left Yatri Niwas in a cavalcade of 42 vehicles, including 16 buses and 23 LMVs at 3.30 am.
Annual Yatra, which formally commenced on July 3, 2025, will conclude on August 9, 2025.
