Srinagar, Jan 14: Around 29 students from government and private higher secondary schools have shared the top three positions across all streams, as the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Wednesday declared the Class 12 examination results.

In the Science stream, seven out of the 13 students who secured the top three positions are from government schools. Similarly, in the Commerce stream, three of the six students sharing the top positions are from government schools.

In the Arts stream, four out of the seven students who secured the top three positions are from government schools. The first position in the Arts stream was bagged by a student of Government Higher Secondary School, Mattan.

In the Home Science stream, all top three positions were secured by students from government schools. The first two positions were bagged by students of Government Higher Secondary School, Kothi Bagh, while the third position was secured by a student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Ranibagh, Anantnag.

As already reported, girls outperformed boys in the examination.

The overall pass percentage stands at 84.02 per cent, with boys recording a pass percentage of 82 per cent, while girls achieved a higher success rate of 86 per cent.

According to officials, a total of 70,735 students from Kashmir and the winter zones of Jammu appeared in the examination, of whom 59,435 successfully qualified.
