Srinagar, Nov 12: In ongoing crackdown against the menace of drugs, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested 5 drug peddlers in Anantnag, Pulwama & Ganderbal districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Anantnag, a police party of Police Station Uttrasoo at a checkpoint established near Methmoo Crossing, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon sack. Upon checking the nylon sack, Bhang Bhoosa (grinded cannabis) weighing 3.140 kgs was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Dilpazeer Khan @ Gojjar Bama, son of Farooq Ahmad, resident of Sanglan Uttrasoo. He has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 64/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Uttrasoo, and investigation has been initiated, police spokesperson said.
Moreover, a police party from Police Station Dooru, at a checkpoint established at Mandipora crossing Dooru intercepted two suspicious persons. They have been identified as Sharoof Ahmad Wagay, son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Guchan, and Mohd Yaseen Shah, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Tamboripora On their personal search, 750 grams of a ganja-like substance wrapped in nylon and 410 grams of poppy straw were recovered. They have been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 108/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Dooru, and investigation is in progress.
In Pulwama, acting on reliable inputs, a police team from Police Station Kakpora during a checkpoint at Okhoo Kakapora intercepted a vehicle (registration HR51BD/1552) boarded by 02 persons. They have been identified as Mohd Iftikhar Ali (driven), son of Ati Mohd, resident of Mamgarh Road, Maril Kotla, Punjab and Mohd Altaf Naik, son of Ab Razak Naik, resident of Urbag Kakpora. During search of the vehicle, 12 kilograms of poppy straw and a grinder was recovered. They have been arrested and a vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 75/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kakpora and further investigation is in progress.
In Ganderbal, based on reliable inputs that one individual, Manzoor Ahmad Gunchi son of Mohd Abdullah Gunchi resident of Gunchi Mohalla Akhal, had concealed contraband in his residential premises, and accordingly a case FIR No. 72/2025, under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kangan.
Further on the directions of SSP Ganderbal, under the supervision of SDPO Kangan, a search operation was subsequently carried out as per the Search Warrant duly obtained from Hon’ble Court of JMIC Kangan, by police party led by SHO PS Kangan. During the search, Contraband Ganja-like substance (Bhangpatri) weighing approximately 4.5 kilograms was recovered and seized on the spot in presence of a First-Class Magistrate and independent witnesses, strictly adhering to all legal formalities under the NDPS Act. The accused person has been arrested, and further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages of the drug network, police spokesperson said.

They requested people to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from society, and assured community members that police will act tough against criminals as per law.
