Ramban, Jan 6: At least six persons were injured on Tuesday after a mini bus was struck by a shooting stone near the Kalotha-Hambal area on the Khaleeni-Hambal Ghoa road in Marmat tehsil of Doda district, officials said.

The bus, JK06A 8890, was hit by a shooting stone/boulder near Kalotha, resulting in injuries to six occupants of the vehicle.

Soon after the incident, locals and authorities rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Doda, for treatment.

The condition of one of the injured was reported to be critical.

A Police team reached the site after receiving information and took stock of the situation.

Locals said boulders rolled down during ongoing road construction work and struck the moving vehicle.

MLA Doda, Shakti Raj Parihar, while speaking to reporters, confirmed that six passengers sustained injuries in the incident.

He stressed that contractors engaged in road construction works must strictly adhere to all safety precautions during excavation to prevent such incidents in the future.
