Srinagar, Aug 05: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday arrested a BTech student from Bihar for allegedly being the key arms supplier to gangs operating in Jammu and Samba districts.

According to an Indian Express report, Kaif Ahmed, a resident of Siwan district in Bihar and a student at the Central University of Jammu, was taken into custody during an investigation into a February 23 shootout at a wedding in Miran Sahib.

According to police, Ahmed was involved in illegally transporting weapons from Bihar and selling them to local gangsters. He has been booked under Sections 109/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 3/25 of the Arms Act.

They said Ahmed was arrested after Balwinder Singh alias Goru Jatt, one of the three accused in the February 23 shootout who was arrested two days ago, named him during interrogation.

Police said while two of the accused in the shootout were arrested on the day of the incident itself, Jatt had absconded.
