Srinagar, Aug 8: Kashmiri youth changemaker and public policy scholar Arhan Bagati has been honoured with the prestigious ET Indo Global Leaders Award in the Excellence in Social Impact category, recognising his work through KYARI (Kashmir’s Yumberzal Applied Research Institute). The award was presented at a ceremony in Al Habtoor Palace, Dubai, by actor and philanthropist Kunal Kapoor.
Currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy at Harvard University, Bagati was recognised for his grassroots initiatives in Jammu & Kashmir focused on inclusive development, sustainable tourism, tribal welfare, drug abuse prevention, and support for women-led enterprises. As KYARI’s founder, he has collaborated with local communities and policy stakeholders to address systemic issues and promote social cohesion in the region.
Bagati also serves as Awareness and Impact Ambassador of the Paralympic Committee of India, having launched platforms like LetsEnable.com to promote accessibility and athlete preparedness. He was recently present at the Paris 2024 Paralympics to support Team India.
Beyond policy and development, Bagati has worked to revive interest in Kashmir as a film destination, engaging with filmmakers to showcase the Valley’s potential for cinematic projects. The ET Indo Global Leaders Awards, instituted by The Times of India, honour global visionaries creating transformative social impact. Bagati’s recognition places him among a select group of young leaders bridging policy, innovation, and empathy to drive change. A Kashmiri Pandit by heritage, Bagati’s journey from Srinagar to international recognition reflects a broader story of youth-led transformation rooted in resilience and public service.
