Srinagar, Aug 13: The Peoples Democratic Party leader and MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) Pulwama, Waheed ur Rehman Para has criticized the Omar Abdullah-lead government for delaying the clearance of the pending compassionate appointment cases in Jammu and Kashmir. “Why are 928 SRO-43 cases and 1,279 RAS cases for compassionate appointments still gathering dust in the Chief Minister’s General Administration Department?” he questioned.
Citing the recent move by J&K LG Manoj Sinha, Para said that just as the LG recently used special powers to appoint hundreds of victims of terror, the Chief Minister of J&K, under existing provisions, also has the authority to relax rules and clear these cases..
He insisted that these are not just files, they are the stories of families who have lost their sole breadwinner and now face an uncertain, desperate future
He said that every day of inaction prolongs the suffering of these families. He added that many of these families have no resources, no connections, and no way to navigate a slow and complex bureaucracy. “Compassionate appointments were meant to deliver dignity, survival, and not to be buried under procedural delays and technical excuses.” he stated. He insisted that “It is time to act @OmarAbdullah”
