New Delhi, Aug 13: The Ministry of Panchayati Raj will host 210 Panchayat representatives from 28 States and Union Territories as special guests at the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on August 15. Accompanied by their spouses and nodal officers, a total of 425 participants will attend the event. A felicitation programme for the guests will be held in New Delhi on August 14, attended by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Minister of State S. P. Singh Baghel, and senior ministry officials.
The event will feature the launch of the AI-powered SabhaSaar application and the release of the 16th edition of Gramoday Sankalp magazine.
This year’s theme — “आत्मनिर्भर पंचायत, विकसित भारत की पहचान” — underscores the role of self-reliant Panchayats in building a developed India. Many of the guests are women leaders credited with improving rural infrastructure, public services, and community engagement. They have also advanced flagship government schemes, including Har Ghar Jal, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin, and Mission Indradhanush, while introducing local innovations at the grassroots.
