Srinagar, Aug 27: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, and Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Faz Lul Haseeb, on Wednesday evening conducted a tour of several city areas to assess preparedness measures in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
The officers inspected key flood-prone locations and installations, including the Flood Control Room at Ram Munshi Bagh, the dewatering station at Lal Mandi, Kursu Rajbagh, Padshahi Bagh, Panthachowk, Khonmoh, and other vulnerable areas.
They took stock of ongoing mitigation efforts, dewatering arrangements, and readiness of preventive measures to avert any flood-like situation. Departments were directed to maintain full operational preparedness, ensure close coordination, and keep men and machinery in ready mode.
The DC and Commissioner SMC also interacted with local residents, urging them to stay informed through official updates and to report any emergencies to designated helplines.
Reassuring the public, the DC said all administrative wings are on alert and closely monitoring the situation, stressing that there is no cause for panic.
Senior officers from all line departments accompanied the DC and the Commissioner during the tour.
