I&FC directs all officers on flood duty to report immediately

Srinagar, Sep 03: In light of continuous rainfall and rising water levels in various rivers across Jammu and Kashmir, the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department has issued an urgent directive for all officers assigned flood duties to report to their posts immediately.

An official from the irrigation and flood control said that “All the officers assigned flood duties to immediately report on duties,” he said.

Official further said that all teams are on alert and the situation is being monitored.

The directive comes as the region continues to experience a critical flood situation, with the Chenab River at Akhnoor crossing the evacuation mark and the Tawi in Udhampur surging to dangerous levels.

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra has also been suspended and schools across Jammu and Kashmir have been closed due to the inclement weather.

The I&FC department is coordinating with other agencies, including the Indian Army and civil administration, to monitor the situation and carry out rescue and relief operations.
