Nine food licenses suspended in Srinagar, Anantnag as FDA intensifies crackdown

Ganderbal, Sep 10: Authorities have suspended the licenses of three eateries including two restaurants and a Dhaba in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after food samples collected from them were found substandard during laboratory testing.

An official of the Food Safety Department Ganderbal told Greater Kashmir that last week a checking squad of Revenue, Police and Food Safety Department headed by SDM Kangan Nazir Ahmad during an inspection lifted food and other samples from several restaurants in Kangan for routine checks. “The samples were sent to the laboratory where three of these failed mandatory food quality tests after which the licenses of three restaurants including a Dhaba have been suspended,” he said.

He further said that legal action will be initiated against the concerned establishments under the Food Safety Act.

The restaurants whose licenses have been suspended include Shahi Tehzeeb, Pathan Restaurant, and Bajad Restaurant.
