Advocate Farman Ali Magray appointed as Central Govt Standing Counsel

Srinagar, Sep 11: The Ministry of Law & Justice, Department of Legal Affairs, has notified the appointment of Advocate Farman Ali as Central Government Standing Counsel (CGSC) for conducting Central Government litigation before the High Court of Delhi.

Advocate Farman Ali was appointed as senior panel counsel in the year 2020. He has been since handling Union of India matters.

Farman Ali is an experienced Advocate with over a decade of practice in litigation, advisory services, and legal documentation, currently serving as Principal Associate at DSK Legal, New Delhi.

He is empanelled as Civil Panel Counsel with the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee, Group ‘A’ Panel Counsel for the Union of India before the Supreme Court, Senior Panel Counsel for the Union of India in the Delhi High Court, Additional Standing Counsel for South Delhi Municipal Corporation, and Junior Standing Counsel for the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs.

He also represents key institutions such as the National Anti-Profiteering Authority (NAA), the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and the Punjab State Co-operative Agricultural Development Bank.

Advocate Farman Ali Magray, a son of the soil, hails from Jammu & Kashmir. He is the son of Ali Mohammad Magray, who has had a distinguished judicial career and has served as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

The appointment, issued vide Order No. J-11017/19/2025-Judicial dated 11th September 2025, has been made with the approval of the President of India. And Ali will hold office for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
