Srinagar, Sep 17: The District Anantnag Carrom Championship 2025-26 concluded on Wednesday at the Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Complex in Bijbehara, bringing together carrom players across categories in boys’, girls’, men’s and women’s sections under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative of the J&K Sports Council.
As per a statement, Mohammad Shafi (Manager, Indoor Sports Complex) and Arif Sultan Khan (Treasurer, J&K Carrom Association) distributed medals and certificates among the winners, runners-up, and participants.
The closing ceremony was attended by Adil Malik (General Secretary, District Anantnag Carrom Association), Ishfaq Ahmad (Joint Secretary, District Anantnag Carrom Association), and other dignitaries and members of the association.
The event, originally scheduled for 27th August 2025 but postponed due to the flood situation in South Kashmir, was successfully conducted with great zeal and sportsmanship.
In the cadet boys’ category, Sheikh Mohammad Humayon secured first place, followed by Khubaib Muzaffar in second and Rehan in third. In the cadet girls’ category, Nabeela clinched the top spot, with Kaiser Farooq finishing runner-up and Kanvi Raina taking third place.
In the sub-junior boys’ section, Ayaan Khan emerged champion, while M. Raif and Saqib Sabzar finished second and third, respectively. In the sub-junior girls’ section, Fatima won first place, with Bhat Arooba and Sadaf Iqbal bagging second and third.
The junior boys’ category saw Izan Khan claim the top position, followed by Hazik Sabzar in second and Faisal Hussain in third. In the junior girls’ category, Ayat Amir bagged first place, while Afreena Rashid and Huda Manzoor secured the next two spots.
In the senior boys’ section, Muneeb finished first, Yahya took second place and Khalid came third. In the senior girls’ section, Arbeena Javid emerged champion, followed by Qurratulain in second and Shariya in third.
The event not only highlighted the growing interest in indoor sports in the district but also provided a competitive platform for budding carrom players to showcase their skills and talent.
