CM regrets omission of Sultan Panditpori's name in obituary reference

Srinagar Oct 23: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday regretted omission of former Legislator Muhammad Sultan Panditpori’s name in the list.

Speaking during the obituary reference in the House, Omar Abdullah said the name has been omitted due to negligence of officers at some level.

“You have already taken note of it and I beleive Chief Secretary must have also taken cognizance of the matter. An explanation must be sought from the officers for this mistake,” Omar Abdullah said.

Earlier Speaker said that administration in several districts did not provide adequate information. “This should not happen. I urge Chief Secretary to look into the matter and seek explanation from officers,” Omar Abdullah said.

Meanwhile, CM said that legislators while speaking during obituary references bring politics in it.
“As politicians, we have a habit of bringing politics into everything. So I suggest that we must change the schedule and let the reference come from the Speaker only that will save time of the House. This is only my suggestion. Final decision has to come from the Speaker of the House,” Omar Abdullah said.

Following this, Speaker Legislative Assembly Abdul Raheen Rather said the suggestion was welcome and will be considered.
