Srinagar, Oct 29: Minister for Horticulture Javed Ahmad Dar on Wednesday said nobody has got the right to demean the instructions (Universities) functioning across Jammu and Kashmir.
He said this in response to the allegations levelled by the independent MLA Shabir Ahmad Kullay who said that no cognizance was taken of outbreak of Leaf Miner and Alphids in the Orchards during the last two to three years.
“Nothing is being done to overcome this problem. Our University (SKUAST-K) has not done anything in this regard,” Kullay said in the House.
To this Minister Javed Ahmad Dar reacted saying that nobody should be given a right to demean the institutions.
“Our scientists in University (SKUAST-K) are working professionally, and all the measures are being taken to check outbreak of Leaf Miner and Alphids in Orchards,” he informed th House.
He said that only Horticulture sector hs progressed in the last 20 years and it was because of the work done by the scientists in SKUAST-K.
“I accept that there has been an outbreak of some disease but I won’t accept that our institutions are not working,” the Minister said.
He said the Government has already said that a separate enforcement squad will be constituted to check the inflow of Spurious pesticides in Kashmir.
“It is very easy to criticize but difficult to deliver,” he said.
