Srinagar, Oct 30: The Jammu and Kashmir government has revealed that as many as 17,953 posts are lying vacant across various departments in the Union Territory, including 2,960 gazetted and 14,993 non-gazetted positions.

In a written reply to legislator Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra during the ongoing session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, the government said that department-wise details of vacancies, the Health and Medical Education Department has the highest number of vacant posts with 1,985 gazetted and 5,300 non-gazetted positions, followed by the Finance Department which has 104 gazetted and 1,457 non-gazetted vacancies.

The Power Development Department has 61 gazetted and 1,436 non-gazetted vacancies, while the Industries and Commerce Department has 45 gazetted and 1,130 non-gazetted posts lying vacant.
The Public Works (R&B) Department has 1,099 non-gazetted vacancies. In the Higher Education Department, 475 gazetted and 214 non-gazetted posts are unfilled. The Agriculture Production Department has 4 gazetted and 322 non-gazetted vacancies, while the Rural Development Department has 109 non-gazetted posts vacant.

The General Administration Department has 105 gazetted and 167 non-gazetted vacancies. The ARI Department has 1 gazetted and 158 non-gazetted posts unfilled. In the Cooperative Department, 26 gazetted and 187 non-gazetted positions are lying vacant. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has 378 non-gazetted vacancies.

The Forest Department has 130 non-gazetted vacancies, while the Labour and Employment Department has 40. The Election Department has 69, Estates Department 19, and Culture Department 100 non-gazetted vacancies.

The Hospitality and Protocol Department has 18 non-gazetted vacancies, and the Information Technology Department has 14 gazetted and 128 non-gazetted vacancies. The Jal Shakti Department has 987 non-gazetted vacancies, while the Law Department has 3 gazetted and 21 non-gazetted.

In the Mining Department, 2 gazetted and 91 non-gazetted posts are vacant, and in the Power Development Department, 61 gazetted and 1,436 non-gazetted vacancies have been reported. The PD&M Department has 119 gazetted and 131 non-gazetted posts vacant.

The Public Works (R&B) Department has 1,099 non-gazetted vacancies, and the Rural Development Department has 109. The Science and Technology Department has 2 gazetted and 12 non-gazetted posts vacant.

In the School Education Department, 727 non-gazetted vacancies have been reported. The Skill Department has 4 gazetted and 48 non-gazetted posts vacant, while the Social Welfare Department has 181 non-gazetted vacancies.

The Tourism Department has 31 non-gazetted vacancies, Transport Department 198, and the Youth Services and Sports Department 88.

The government reply states that details of the vacancies referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), along with the present recruitment status, have also been appended.
