Srinagar, Nov 21: The drainage system outside the entrance of SIDCO Industrial Estate, Rangreth, which has remained in a state of total collapse for the past several years, continues to cause trouble for commuters, said Association of Industrialists, SIDCO Industrial Estate.
“Raw sewage, septic waste, and contaminated water continuously overflow onto the main access road leading to the Industrial Estate.
Frequent rainfall and the complete blockage of underground pipes have worsened the situation this year, turning the road into a dangerous and slippery passage for workers, commuters, local residents,” said Dawood Ahmad, President, Industrialists Association Rangreth. “Several incidents of skidding and injuries have been reported, and the unbearable stench and environmental contamination have made the area nearly unlivable. Despite repeated complaints to the concerned authorities, no permanent solution has been implemented,” he said in a statement. It is a hazardous condition, as the extent of sewage overflow has led to road damaged and causes daily risks faced by the public, he added.
