Srinagar, Nov 28: Murrad 7th Street Cricket Club clinched the title of the 3rd Edition CRPF Cup 2025 after defeating Batwara Sports Club in a high-voltage finale played at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Sonwar, on Friday.

Batwara Sports Club, after winning the toss, elected to bat first and posted a competitive total of 181 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. Murrad 7th Street CC responded with a dominant batting display, racing to the target with 183 for 3 in just 18.1 overs to lift the coveted CRPF Cup 2025. This concluded weeks of intense competition and witnessed participation of 16 cricketing teams.

The closing ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries from civil administration, CRPF and J&K Police. During the ceremony Rajesh Kumar, IPS, ADG J&K Zone CRPF, was the chief guest, accompanied by Vineet Brij Lal, IG (KOS) CRPF. Pawan Kumar Sharma, IG Srinagar Sector CRPF, PR Jambholkar, DIG (Administration) Srinagar Sector, and others also participated in the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Pawan Kumar Sharma, IG Srinagar Sector CRPF, said the overwhelming participation of teams reflects the rising popularity and success of the tournament. “This tournament stands as a testimony to the passion for cricket in the Valley. The energy seen throughout the event is truly inspiring,” he said.

Chief Guest Rajesh Kumar emphasised the importance of sports in shaping young lives. “Organising such tournaments is an effort to channelise the enthusiasm and talent of youth in a positive direction. I congratulate both the champions and the runners-up for their dedication and exemplary sportsmanship,” he said, expressing hope that the CRPF Cup will continue to grow as a prominent annual sporting event.

The awards ceremony that followed recognised several outstanding performances. Abid Ali of Murrad 7th Street CC was chosen as Player of the Finals for his brilliant three-wicket haul and received a cash prize of Rs 12,000. The Best Batsman award went to Sharsheel Abbas of Murrad 7th Street CC for scoring 375 runs in the tournament, while Safdar Ali of MLA Gymkhana Budgam was named Best Bowler with 17 wickets, both receiving Rs 12,000 each. Irfan Mir Lara of Murrad 7th Street CC was declared Player of the Tournament for his exceptional all-round performance of 499 runs and 13 wickets, earning a cash prize of Rs 30,000.

Murrad 7th Street Cricket Club were crowned champions and awarded gold medals, the champions trophy and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, while Batwara Sports Club secured the runners-up title, receiving silver medals, the runners-up cup and Rs 1.75 lakh.
