AI is empowering rural talent to build world-class startups: Ashwini Vaishnaw

New Delhi, Feb 18: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said Artificial Intelligence is transforming the creative economy and enabling talented youth from rural India to build globally competitive ventures, as he inaugurated the WAVES Creators’ Corner at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

The Minister launched the Creators’ Corner on the second day of the summit, describing it as a hands-on innovation workspace showcasing the use of AI across the AVGC-XR (Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality) ecosystem. He said the platform complements key ministry initiatives such as WaveX, Waves Bazaar and the Create in India Challenges.

During a walkthrough of the pavilion, Minister Vaishnaw interacted with startups from the WaveX cohort and representatives of leading global companies, including Adobe, Netflix, Sony and Amazon. As many as 51 AVGC-XR and Media Tech startups are showcasing AI-powered solutions and immersive technologies at the pavilion. The Minister also met the winners of the Bhasha Setu and Kalaa Setu challenges. Later, he participated in a fireside chat with Shradha Sharma of YourStory, where he elaborated on AI’s societal impact and its role in bridging opportunity gaps.
