Zscaler, Airtel launch AI & Cyber Threat Research centre in India

Srinagar, Feb 21: Zscaler Inc., a global leader in cloud security, in partnership with Bharti Airtel, has announced the launch of the AI & Cyber Threat Research Centre – India, a multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s cyber resilience and advancing trusted AI adoption.

A statement issued here said that the centre will focus on safeguarding critical sectors vital to India’s economic and national security, including telecommunications, banking and energy, while also protecting digital users across the country’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem.

India has long served as a major hub for Zscaler’s innovation and cyber research operations. With a significant share of its global research talent based in the country, the new centre expands Zscaler’s presence into a national collaboration platform bringing together industry, government, academia and the public sector. Designed “In India, For India,” the initiative seeks to build future-ready cyber talent and support the country’s vision of Viksit Bharat.

As India undergoes large-scale digital transformation across sectors, the national attack surface has widened considerably. Zscaler’s ThreatLabz India has recorded millions of infiltration attempts each month, including nation-state espionage campaigns and over 1.2 million intrusion attempts targeting 58 Indian entities.
