3 more countries join New Delhi declaration on AI Impact

New Delhi, Feb 24: The New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact, adopted at the AI Impact Summit 2026 held in the national capital on February 18–19, has gained three additional signatories, taking the total number of endorsing countries and international organisations to 91.

According to an official statement issued on Monday, Bangladesh, Costa Rica and Guatemala have joined the declaration after February 21, when 88 countries and organisations had endorsed it. The declaration reflects a broad global consensus on leveraging artificial intelligence for economic growth and social good. Guided by the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all), it emphasises equitable access to AI benefits, respect for national sovereignty, and strengthened international cooperation.

Structured around seven pillars — including democratising AI resources, secure and trusted AI, AI for science, human capital development and resilient AI systems — the declaration outlines a framework for voluntary, multi-stakeholder collaboration. Key outcomes of the summit include the launch of initiatives such as the Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of AI, the Global AI Impact Commons, the Trusted AI Commons, an International Network of AI for Science Institutions and a global AI workforce development playbook. Officials said the summit is expected to deepen long-term global partnerships and position AI as a driver of inclusive economic transformation.
