Gujarat targets 10 lakh jobs, pushes ITIs, semiconductor units

Ahmedabad, Mar 2: The Gujarat Government continues fuelling the employment sector for youth of the state in order to generate more jobs with a fresh target of generating ten lakh government jobs in the next ten years. For the initiative, the government has taken concrete steps in the recent past to strengthen the existing Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Skill Development Centers (SDCs) across the state.

Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Harsh Sanghavi told this to Greater Kashmir correspondent in reply to a question during an interaction with a delegation of journalists from Jammu and Punjab Chandigarh who were on a visit to Gujarat as a part of a tour organised by PIB Jammu with the help of PIB Gujarat.

Among a number of other issues that came under discussion, employment generation was one of the main topics that was broadly discussed by the Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi during the meeting with the delegation of visiting journalists.

“We have always been a prime state in terms of employment, both in government as well as the private sector,” he said, adding that both these sectors are flourishing in the state, and the Gujarat government, with the assistance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who heads the Union government, is further boosting the employment sector.

“We have a fixed target of providing ten lakh government jobs in the next ten years across the state,” said Sanghavi.

He further commented, “Not only the government jobs, but we are also equally focusing on continuously generating jobs in the private sector, and this is the reason for which Gujarat is now the first choice of all the private players.”

The Deputy Chief Minister, sharing an example, stated that in 2007, Narendra Modi, as Chief Minister of Gujarat, had dreamt of a model to create Gujarat as an automobile manufacturing hub, and concrete steps were taken in planning, and now this dream is getting realised.

“It is a pleasure to tell you that by 2029, Maruti alone will be manufacturing around 20000 vehicles a year within Gujarat state, and this is part of a dream seen by Narendra Modi in 2007,” he stated.

Sanghavi further stated that 4 new semiconductor units are being established in Gujarat, which will realise the dream of the Semiconductor Mission of India to remove the dependency of the country on imports for the semiconductor market.
