Over 50 flights bring back 8175 passengers from West Asia

New Delhi, Mar 9: A total of 51 inbound flights operated by Indian carriers arrived in India from West Asia on March 7, bringing back 8175 passengers, as authorities continue to respond to disruptions in the region’s air travel.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation said airlines are adjusting their operations while it closely monitors the evolving situation in West Asia to ensure passenger safety and smooth flight operations.

For March 8, Indian airlines, Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa Air, planned to operate 49 inbound flights from key regional airports including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat and Jeddah, subject to operational feasibility and prevailing conditions.

According to the ministry, Indian carriers are also planning to operate around 50 inbound flights on March 9.

The government said airlines are continuously assessing the ground situation at other airports in the region so that additional flights can be operated if conditions permit.

The ministry said that it was maintaining constant coordination with airlines and other stakeholders while also monitoring airfares to ensure ticket prices remain reasonable and that there was no undue surge during this period.

Passengers have been advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules, while the ministry said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and issue further updates if required.
