Indian Haj pilgrims to pay additional Rs 10,000 for air fare

New Delhi, Apr 30: Indian Hajj pilgrims will have to pay an additional ₹10,000 in view of the rise in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices arising from the ongoing crisis in West Asia.

The Haj Committee of India has issued a circular notifying all pilgrims of Haj 2026 of an increase in airfare, directing registered pilgrims to deposit the extra amount towards “differential airfare” by May 15.

In its circular the Haj committee of India notified that, in view of extraordinary circumstances arising out of the ongoing crisis in the Middle  East the revised airfare for each pilgrim  entails an additional amount of USD 100 per pilgrim, irrespective of embarkation point, to be borne by the pilgrims.

The decision has been taken in view of pressing requests from airlines for revision of base fare by more than USD 400 on account of the sharp increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel prices due to the prevailing situation in the Middle East after due examination of facts and consultation with stakeholders. All pilgrims of Hajj 2026 are required to deposit 10,000.00 towards differential airfare by May 15.

The amount, as specified above, may be deposited either through: E-payment facility available on or Haj Suvidha App using Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking or Specified Pay-in-Slip in any branch of State Bank of India or Union Bank of India in the account of Haj Committee of India using Bank Reference Number available on HCoI website against each Cover number.

The unique Bank Reference Number provided to each Cover must be mentioned in the Deposit Receipt. 6. All State/UT Haj Committees are requested to immediately inform the concerned pilgrims and ensure timely deposit of the required amount
