Srinagar, May 21: Hamza Burhan, an Al-Badr commander accused of masterminding the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), according to media reports.
As per India Today, the designated terrorist sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the attack carried out by unknown assailants. Hamza Burhan had been named in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) chargesheet in connection with the Pulwama terror attack conspiracy.
Reports said he was also allegedly involved in directing the recent Pahalgam terror attack and had been operating from across the border while coordinating multiple terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir through local support networks.
The killing is being seen as part of a broader pattern in recent months in which several designated terrorists linked to various Pakistan-based terror outfits have been targeted and killed by unidentified gunmen inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
According to the report, operatives associated with outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammed have been killed in similar targeted shootings in cities including Lahore over the past few weeks.
