Banihal, June 08: A truck driver lost his life after his vehicle met with an accident at Nachlana along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) early Monday morning.
Officials said the truck bearing registration number JK02DU-9275 was involved in the accident, prompting an immediate rescue operation by police personnel, Army troops, and volunteers of the Himalayan QRT Ramsoo.
Rescuers rushed to the spot and made efforts to save the driver, but he had succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The deceased was identified as Mohdmammd Zaffer, son of Mohdmammd Qasim, a resident of Pampore in Kashmir.
Station House Officer (SHO) Banihal, Ashiq Hussain Lone, said the body has been shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for legal and medico-legal formalities.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway.
