Two medical store licences suspended over violations in J-K’s Rajour

Jammu, Jun 16:  Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district have suspended the licences of two medical stores for alleged violations of drug regulations, officials said on Tuesday.

The action followed inspections conducted by Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma to check the sale and distribution of habit-forming and other regulated medicines.

During the inspections, officials found serious discrepancies at Hopewell Medicos, Kheora, and Star Medicos, Gujjar Mandi, including failure to maintain mandatory computerised sale records and alleged irregularities in the sale of habit-forming medicines.

Subsequently, the licensing authority suspended the retail drug sale licences of both establishments under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, pending further orders, the officials said.

The Deputy Commissioner said the administration has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards violations of drug regulations and warned of strict action against erring establishments.
