CIK attaches property of Mubeen Shah in connection with 2020 FIR

The move is linked to FIR No 07/2020 registered at Police Station CIK, amid ongoing investigations into allegations of anti-national activities.

A CIK team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Nisar Ahmed and District Investigation (DI) East Inspector Rashid Khan, carried out the operation at Shah’s residence in Buchwara, Dalgate, Srinagar.

Officials stated that 12 marlas of land belonging to Shah, son of late Ali Shah, were attached.

The property is identified under Khasra Nos 236 and 337 of Estate Buchwara and Survey Nos 889/703, 595/353, and 888.

The proceedings were conducted in the presence of Naib Tehsildar Shah Muhammad Asif, following completion of necessary legal formalities.

Shah is a known Kashmiri industrialist and a scion of the Alson Group, a prominent family business house in the region traditionally associated with automobiles and diversified into other sectors.

He expanded the group’s international footprint, particularly in trade and handicrafts.

Shah served as President of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) from 2006 to 2008 and has also held positions such as Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JKJCCI) and the Joint Cross-LoC Chamber.

A researcher on political economy and regional development, Shah has been residing in Malaysia with his family since December 2019, where he continues business activities as a Kashmiri NRI entrepreneur.

The attachment stems from FIR No 07/2020, which involves allegations of anti-national propaganda and secessionist misinformation, according to officials.

A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Srinagar had earlier issued a proclamation under Section 82 CrPC against Shah and others, directing them to appear before the court.

It had warned that failure to comply could lead to further actions under Section 83 CrPC, including property attachment.

Shah was previously detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in 2019 amid security measures in Jammu and Kashmir but was later released.
